Mines
I now implemented mines and their creation, as well as mine vessels. Mines regularly check for enemy vessels in their vicinity. If an enemy is found, it explodes and damages all ship components around it. Mines are created by mine vessels, which are neutral entities that travel around space laying mines everywhere. As previously mentioned, mines can be hacked by the player using arrows, in which case they follow him around and can thus be launched into enemy ships.
Additionally, I made another ship class called the Goliath. It acts as a mothership, spawning vessels from time to time which are sent towards the enemy. I implemented spawning these and made them very formidable due to their abundance of sawblade turrets.
Lastly, due to the lack of coordination that would otherwise ensue, I made it possible to zoom out to see a lot more of the battlefield. By doing so, I realized that there were some issues with performance that I will have to address next week. Furthermore, I noticed that the lights wouldn’t show at a certain distance, so I had to change their intensity upon changing the zoom level. I will also work on making different types of space stations that can be captured and destroyed by the player.
